Default Anyone Else Buy The OBX/China built sidepipes?

I am so happy with them, they fit great, thanks again to Clubby for the information.

I have been working on the car a lot lately, love that there is stainless headers and sidepipes on there!

I have been trying like heck to get a set. Went thru Danny Wong, but he didn't realize I am in Alaska and by the time he was working on a shipping quote the stock ran out. He is keeping in contact and indicated they may be available in a month. I read all you have written on them. Did you get the muffled type and how do they sound. I have a stock 77.

Maybe just sit tight for now, I will tell you I was pleased with the service and price that Danny got me...also the pipes fit great, Clubby also has them.

They may be worth the wait from Danny, but I do know that several ebay stores sell the same ones, maybe can get a good deal with them by emailing them, buy outside of ebay.

I want to go to Alaska one day, I have traveled a bunch to surf and Alaska is on my list..

had mine installed a month ago. fit good and they sound great with baffles. Had a few issues with the engine not sitting level but after leveling the engine, the pipes went on with no proplems. Danny was great to work with.

I bought them without the baffles not on yet I figured I could buy inserts if they are too loud which I am sure they will be but apparently you cannot remove the baffles out of the set that comes with them without beating them out. I wanted to keep my options open sadly it will be a year or so before I hear them. I am waiting on a body off restoration and engine refresh. I am sure it will be worth the wait.

It's good to know they fit really good. And the best part is that he's located in San Leandro, Ca, which is right next door.

Yeah, you can find my thread on sidepipes and it has Danny's direct contact information, which he advised me was ok to post. He will sell them outside of ebay, you will save some money.

You will want to use allen head stainless steel header bolts, please see Stringray pics thread, I have detailed the install there, I can give you the bolt dimensions if you need them, can check tonight

also, I did not use the gaskets they came with, I opted for the grey mr gasket header flange ones, a much better product in my opinion, I also put a thin bead of high heat black rtv on either side of the gasket, have done that for years on my cars to prevent any possible leaks

I bought the hooker kit, I forgot about that....their kit is easy to use, you do need to use the rubber bushings as they help with any vibrations that may occur

stainless steel...... and for real, read my build up thread or my other thread on the sidepipes arriving

if these OBX pipes and Hooker are not made in the same factory, then I am a WW2 Japanese fighter pilot

every bend, every welded seam location is IDENTICAL, though the OBX has much thicker, very nice flanges where they bolt up to the head

it does pain me to say so, but they are far superior than Hooker...

Buy the Hooker side pipe install kit from the Summit Racing site. Makes installation easy and professional looking.
