Default problem!!!!

today i took my 81 to see about new mufflers.for a more agressive sound, anyway the car was lowered down off the lift..and now when i hit the brakes it pulls drasticly to the right...is it just a coincedence or just a caliper hanging up???cause the car wasnt driven much at all..just bought it 3 weeks ago..... just baffled!!!! thanks

What kind of lift did they use? One with ramps to drive on or arms to swing under the frame?

Maybe it is just coincidence but time to pull the wheel and check everything out.

"Pulling" to the right indicates the right caliper is braking more than the left caliper. Something is going on in the left side brake system. Often the rubber flex brake line just before the caliper will break down internally restricting flow. When you pull your calipers down, be sure to inspect the rubber hose internals.Remove them to look thru. If they have never been changed, now is the time.

It MAY also be that the lift damaged part of the braking system . A visual inspection is in order.

There might be contamination on the brake pad that's pulling harder.

check for oil dampness on your rotor indicating a leak.

check which rotor is hotter, the cooler one is the one not braking...

Thirty years ago they were but who knows what might have been messed with over the years and replaced incorrectly.
