hood removal

hood removal

I have 71 350/270 and would like to know the preferred removal of the stock hood? Remove the hood plus mount'g brackets or remove hood from the mount'g brackets. I want very little trouble realigning. thanks Mike

tape it perfectly with like painters blue tape. that's what i did. kind of helped. still was hectic and a 3 person job putting it back on.

Unless there are specific reasons to, hinges should not be messed with. Scribe around the hinge plate on the hood and remove hood. Replace using scribe lines as guide. Minor adjustments from this point will almost certainly be needed for hood to hit latch points correctly.

sorry but dont scribe the hood......use tape id shoot someone if they scribed my hood

rule of thumb.... once the hood comes off its not going to run for a while haha. you WILL find projects to do!

Tape the hood, around the edges of the hinges, so you know where to align it back up, when it is time to replace.

Yeah I would go nutz if someone put a scribe in mine..Even with the crack I found...

Mark the placement of the hinges on the hood. Scribe, tape, paint, crayon...whatever you want to use. I used a plain old nothin' fancy #2 pencil. Remove the hood from the hinges leaving the hinges on the fender skirts.

Come install time, match your marks to the hinges.
