I have an acquaintance who has a set of '57 May 3731539 heads. I am inquiring for him as to how much they may be worth if magna-flux checks out good?

Ask the C1 folks. They may be looking for stagger hole 283 heads.

Well here goes anyway. 1957 only production used on 4 barrel Power Pack and 283 CI FI Flint built engines if the year stamp is single digit. Otherwise with 2 digit year code they are common to all other small blocks that year and of no particular interest to anyone. Small valves, small ports, tight combustion chamber. Flint heads were produced with swirl polished and stem relieved valves which are rare now because the seat area was thinner than ordinary valves and was commonly replaced in rebuilds. Flint heads are listed between 200 and 1900 a pair, Tonawanda heads make nice crab trap anchors. I have not seen any sold pairs for more than $500 in a limited search. Google 3731539 heads and have a beverage or two while you read. There are an amazing number of posts here on these heads... they are not exactly common, but not rare either.
