so at a minimum, go through them to see what things are worth. A carb is assigned 38 points for originality. There are five 'dimensions' to originality judging, part number being only one of them. Your carb might get a 5-7 point deduct for an NTFP part number.
The luggage rack (or plugs were it used to be) might get you 4-6 points off.
I believe the list of standard deductions book is being revised beyond just tires, batteries, glass etc to include common things like the luggage rack. I'm not sure what the standard deduct will be.
If you're looking for easy points, concentrate on the Ops section. Each deduction is 25 points and they can add up quickly if the car is not operating as per design. I'm always amazed by the number of people that spend hours making sure that the w/wiper motor is beautiful- but forget to put w/wiper fluid in the reservoir or don't verify if the pump is working.

Driving the car to the meet will add significant points as well. 225 miles is worth 22.5 points which will overcome all of the deduct mentioned above. Don't forget the 'three gimmes' for another 10 points- cut off switch, fire extinguisher and sticker.
Most of all, relax and have fun. A car can be judged as often as the owner wants. It's not a one shot do or die deal.
