Default Steering play

My ride with 130K miles is beginning to show lots of play in the steering.
Need advice on where to start on adjusting or tightening the steering. Thanks!

for me the biggest improvement was in adjusting the steering box,(2 adjustments done with the box unloaded),followed by the loose worn connection from the pitman arm to the power steering control valve.you should check for any looseness in the steering system by having someone move the wheel back and forth while you observe the steering linkage,(someone you trust).the power steering control valve will show much less play when the engine is running.read up on this as the box adjustments are critical.an old but interesting read.http://www.corvettefaq.com/c3/vip.pdf

I would look at the steering coupler (rag joint) in the steering shaft just above the steering gear, the points where the pitman arm connects to the steering gear and the power steering control valve, all tie rod ends, the idler arm connection and the ball joints. If all those are tight then I would try to adjust the steering gear.
