Rear corvette emblem

Is the rear corvette emblem (between the tail lights) held on with tape or studs? I need to replace mine but I dont want to damage the paint/bumper in the process. Any tips?

There are pins built onto the emblem that insert through holes in the bumper.

The 80-82 rear emblem has 3 studs on the back of it, that get "speed nuts" on them.

Can it be reached without removing the rear bumper cover?

Yep, on 80-82's, it's not to difficult. Get underneath with a light and take a look, you should be able to see the 3 nuts.
