Replaced the cable worked one time. New spring but it still doesn't pull the latch back all the way. When I try to open it just gets hard to pull. latch is lubed. What the heck anybody have any tricks
Are you talking about the cable the that goes across the top of the hood or the cable from the cable from the handle? I can tell you that my handle you have to push back in after you pull it and was told by others that is "somewhat normal". I tried working on it for a while then gave up.
break it down to the componets, with the wire handle removed or dissconnected,
does the spring work freely on the hood latch and return when released.
Yes or No ?
Does the Handle/wire slide smoothly in the cable lead.
everything is a simply mechanical device, if you break it down.
no pinching, no binding, oil the pivot points and the cable.
it will work better than new with a little TLC.
Everything seems to work correctly it's like there isn't enough leverage to push the latch. The new cable isn't exactly like the old one this one is a single wire where the old one was a wrapped
Are you sure you are getting the maximum "throw" to pop and release the hood. I mean with the handle pushed all the way in, is the little brass sleeve at the other end of the wire sucked right up against the latch with no gap, so that it gives full movement, no dead slack.
I played with it a liitle more today got it to pop 4 times so I washed it and put under it's cover till my next days off.I moved the bracket that holds the tepee it looked a little cocked I hope that was the problem. |I'll carry my manual hood opener for a while just in case
