I am putting a 1975 coupe back together and have an issue with the pullies. This car has AC and after installing the pullies, the alternater does not line up with the WP or crank pulley. I have a 3 groove crank pulley but I think it might be the wrong onw. Has anyone run into this?
Yes I had this problem, Pulleys are different from different years and on the 75s from what I remember have a slightly larger space between the groves. I would almost bet your three grove pulley is a two grove pulley with an additional pulley that fits inside. Is the engine the original engine? Did you replace the water pump? Do you have the correct alternator bracket. Does the car have power steering if so does it align? A AIM will give you the correct part numbers for a comparison for the correct #. Photos are always good if you can.

Look over in the parts for sale section under my handle.I'm not trying to make a sale here, but i have detailed pictures of a 75 L82 pulley setup w/AC,PS,and smog pump....ohhhh...it had a alternator too...lol
If you need better pictures...let me know, and i can snap some for ya probably tomorrow evening when i get in.
I think I'm going to replace all the pullies with a correct set. I got the car in peices and I think the crank pulley is the wrong one. This would also explain the space between the pulley and the timing cover issue. Kustom 8 has a whole set for 80.00, hopefully this fixes the pulley problem and then I can move on to the headlights.

Actually check that your harmonic balancer is on the whole way, maybe not all the way on the crank causing misalignment of crank pulley!?!?!??!?!
