I just replaced the entire cooling system and can't see using the dirty overflow bottle. I want to remove it and clean the 31 years of dirt out of it. I can't see where it's bolted on though. Any thoughts?
I have never removed my overflow bottle, but if I ever decided to do so, I would probably start by removing the bolts that hold it to the inner fender. I think there are two on top and one on the bottom, and if I am not mistaken, they loosen by turning them counter clock-wise. You use a tool called a "wrench" to turn the bolts. Good luck, see ya,
i've taken mine out. it's a pain. there are 3 bolts on the fenderwell. just look for them and you will see them. there probably covered in years of road grime and maybe undercoating. once you get them out you have to reach in and pull the neck off the bottle. oh yea the neck has one bolt at the top by the hood and fender. once the neck is off you have to rotate the bottle till it comes out the bottom. it's not as hard as it sounds. just a pain. don't forget to undo the electric plug and rubber hoses.

I just pulled and cleaned mine a couple months ago when I replaced the radiator. As noted above, the bolts come through from the fenderwell side. I also had to loosen a couple A/C hose brackets for clearance.
Once out and drained, I put in about a pint of soapy water and dropped in a small scotch brite pad with sponge backing. You can then shake it to get some abrasive cleaning on the inside - worked great.
