ok, I've been busy going between the 69 camaro on the 68 corvette...progress is kinda slow, but I'm almost done installing the new console and refurbed arm rest, all I need is get the radio back in. I had an issue with the engine not really wanting to perform on the top end, turned out to be the foam filter was just to close to the hood or going bad and chocking the motor. Solved that with a dropped based 14' filter and 3" element. Barely fits under the LT1 hood but it works. Also swapped the edy AVS carb to the road demon that came with the car. No particular reason other than I happen to have everything to tune holley and nothing to tune edy. The Edy will go up for sale soon when I can take pics of it.
Last but not least, decided to put on new shoes to have the car look closer to factory stock:

I'll be parting with the nittos out back, and will use the Mickey T that were up front on the camaro (it has skinnies and I'm growing out of that look)

Next will be a front suspension rebuilt.
debating on ditching to HEI to go back to the factory dist and updating it to mag pick up -again for the factory appearance-
New engine harness needs to go in sometime
Really debating about the frame off...car has never been restored that I can tell, it does need body bushings so I will do those, but part of me think it's kinda "cool" to have an unrestored car other than regular maintenance...

Looking great!

I saw your post, and I currently have a 68 that I've redone over the years, and when I was a kid, owned a 69 SS 396 Camaro...

Good Luck with yours!

Tonight I ended up installing a set of bullet race mufflers out back. The midamerica chambered exhaust was getting a bit too obnoxious. My intent was to keep the same tone but get rid of the rasp at wot or mid throttle. Success, it did the trick. I will take a sound clip tomorrow.

I would recommend for anyone following this thread and deciding to try this fix themselves, remove the door glass before you grind and weld.

Glass was rolled up and covered during that time. No issues.

here's the vid with the new bullets on:

it's not very clear in the video between the pre and aft installation (pre bullet video on the first page), but what it did is keep the exhaust tone the same, just took the rasp out and quiet it down a good 5db at idle too.

Nice work on exhaust, Is that a stock 327 ( h.p.?) bottom end or is there a bigger cam?

video is on a cold start. it's a 68 327 per the number. no clue if it was ever rebuit or had a cam changed. it's an hydro cam though.
