Boy, am I glad this job is finally done along with the new interior vacumn lines.
Now attention goes to the other side () and the Autometer speedo and tach replacement gauges.
ps. and whoever does this job, make sure you route the vacumn lines under that sidesways looking bottom duct before you go assembling the other ductwork

This thread is awesome thanks for posting it. My 79 is an original a/c car but the heater core hoses are tied together under the hood. So obviously we think the core is no good and was leaking. My a/c compressor is gone also. I have allot of work ahead of me in that regard this will help. Great work to by the way I have a badly cracked dash as well so seeing your out is Another project i will have to tackle when I get in there

Terrorizing Orange Cones
Looks like a great cleanup and restore, TwinRay. Mine was a bunch easier having shipped from St. Louis minus the AC but I certainly empathize with the struggle to wrestle those core boxes out and back in.
Thanks for the update and the write up. Keep plugging away and you'll enjoy the fruits of that labor when your windshield doesn't fog up and your hands are toasty warm on those dry, cold days.

I don't want to cause you any unnecessary work but when I changed my heater core the new one I put in leaked at the soldered joints,I had to take it out and send it to a radiator shop.Maybe there's a way to pressure test it before you install it.

Thanks - I did a 1/2 azzed test on my own putting it in a tub of water and applying a bit of pressure from my compressor. I agree, it is a good idea to check them out first.
