Default US MAGS Standard

Hey Folks,

Looking to change up the look on my '69.

Wondering if any of you have had any experience with these US MAGS Standard (1 piece) wheels?

http://www.mhtwheels.com/pdf/specs/U...20Standard.pdf

I'm just looking to swap the existing tires I have now on the stock 15X8 Rallys to some new rims.

Anybody tried these in 15X8 w/4"BS?

Wondering if they will clear the stock calipers or not.

Nice looking wheel. I dont have these wheels but will look at them on line. I cant answer your back space question but I'm sure some of the other 69 vette owners/experts will chime in to advise.

The 4" BS is the standard Rally wheel backspace.

Nice looking wheel. Look a little like old edelbrock 409s.

Back Spacing is 4". However, the calipers on our C3s are quite large and a lot of wheels will require a 1/2" spacer to clear the spokes.

They look very similar to Cragar ss which definitely do need the 1/2" spacer in 15 diameter. Looks like you would need to install longer studs too if the spacer is needed.

Call and ask. They should know whether they need spacers to clear the caliper.

The wheels with the black centers might look pretty cool on my white/black 70.

Most wheel manufacturers know whether their wheel will clear the Corvette calipers or not. Give them a call.

They look like my Torque Thrust Originals. Mine are 17 x 8 with a 4.5" backspacing and clear the calipers by one MM.

I wish they came in a 4: BS, but they only made one offset in this wheel.

LOVE the look of those wheels, but as some have already mentioned, caliper clearance could be an issue.

Thanks guys, I really didn't have a question on the backspacing- I was aware that my '69 wears the original 4" BS 8" Rallys. These US Mags are identical to factory width & BS. I was more concerned with just whether or not the calipers would clear, and more so the actual quality of the wheels- if anyone had purchased them here for their car.

These wheels are a AR Torque Thrust knockoff, and I know there have been issues with some vintage Torque Thrusts without the machined recess on the backside that required spacers to clear the calipers and caused fitment issues. I also know the Torque Thrust D's had a machined recess specifically for the Corvette calipers.

Also, the nice thing about these US Mags is they are available with 4" of BS on an 8" rim, which was not available with the original TT D's.

I did send an email inquiry to the vendor, with respect to whether of not they would clear the brake calipers on a 1969 Corvette, but the response was somewhat vague and generalized, stating that they would fit, and "clear the large chevrolet caliper". Based on that response I'll probably just go ahead and order them, but I figured I'd just post a thread here first and see if anyone had any input.

When I bought my TT I had the same concern. The vendor had several recent orders for 68-69 Vettes in the 17x8 4.1BS and had none sent back. I ordered 1 and tried it front and back. When I saw there was no clearance problem I ordered the other three. Reasoning was that it was cheaper to send back 1 than 4. If you are interested in the TT,
Wheelsforless.com has some good deals.

Did you buy the US Mags and if so how did they fit. I am looking at some for my 68. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
