I don't think there would be a BIG diff between one or another unless 1 was not tuned well and the other was.
I would spend the time to make sure you have the best size jets and the carb does not have any maintaince issues.
If you want better gas milage after that then look into a F/I system. You can get a TBI that will fit your intake or spend more for multi-port.
