Has anyone found a make of car that came OE with 17x8" rims with the same backspace and bolt pattern a C3 that can be had cheap ? I'm talking junkyard cheap....
17's weren't popular until the late 90's at best, and then they weren't steel cheapies.
Without going with spacers, I think that you are pretty well out of cheap options. I've scoured the 'net for the cheapest 17's out there, and the best that I have run across are the ZR1 replicas that SLP sells. The third gen camaro/firebird wheels were apparently right on as far as back spacing goes, but i don't think they ever came with 17's.

Aaarrgh. I thought you would say that. I just wanted a cheap full size spare and didn't want to spend 250.00 on another TTII wheel...
Why do you have to use a 17" inch wheel for the spare? As longer as the diameter of the spare tire is the same as your 17" TTII wheel and tire you can use a 15" wheel and tire.
In the end I guess that will be cheaper. It's either buy a tire for the 15" rim I have or buy a rim for the 17" tires I have ! I figured in the long run I'd be better off with a 17.
