What does the door tag tell you? I know the paint code but the CHEVROLET 930 Trim STD I guess STD means standard but what does the number 930 stand for? Thanks

the tag should have 3 sets of codes. The code to the right of Chevrolet is the assembly date of the body. It should be a LETTER, followed by 2 numbers. What year do you have? 68 right? Example: My 68 build date on the tag is J29 or May 29th (68)
Underneath STD for (you are correct) Standard interior. To the right, the paint code.

Thank you avalonjohn and I could hardly read the numbers next to chevrolet but the last two were 30. I think my car was built in November 1967 per the VIN. Tomorrow I will look closer so I can see the letter on the tag. Do you know where else I can find more codes on the car. Soon as the weather gets warmer I will check the tank. I pulled back the rubber boot on the gas tank but I couldn't see anything. Thanks again

Where can I find the archived info related to the trim tag info? I know the paint color and interior are correct for my 69 but where can I find reference info on the build date? On the door trim tag it reads D22. Thanks!
D is November 67, 22 is the body build date I believe. The tag on my '68 is D15 which sorta lines up with the 4813 of my VIN (Nov 18ish according to the c3registry.com sites calculator). Month code started at A as follows.
A = August 67
B = September 67
C = October 67
D = November 67
E = December 67
F = January 68
and so on...
D22 would be a body build date of November 22nd, 1967.
68 production began in August 67, so the code for the first body build month was "A". "B" would be September, "C" was October and "D" was November.
I think he means for a 69 right? If that is the case, November 22nd, 1968,
Also, be careful. GM "parts" date coded with letter and numbers start in January. So on parts, A is January and so forth. For car assembly dates, as stated above, A is the first month of the years production.

Great, then before the "30" should either be a "C" for October (if it was body rolled through very late Oct and finished Nov) or "D" for Nov.

STD means black vinyl interior. Black vinyl was the base color.
TOMVANPARIS: you're hijacking the thread, but the info you want is in the Corvette Black Book. Do you have a copy of Bizzoco's book?

I have a 68 roadster down here in NZ, the vin number is 194678S405203
It is currently running a 350 which was not fitted to this car originally. How do I determine whether this was originally a 327 or 427 car?? Any ideas?? Thanks for your help, Dave

You may never be able to tell for certain without original factory documentation with the car. 68 VINs do not have codes for engines.
You can compare the big block equipment and parts shown in the 68 assembly instruction manual (AIM) with what you find on your car and may be able to pick up clues. The problem with that is that concerns the big block itself - it was an options package and required much more than just the engine. Any and all of the parts in the package could have been purchased over the counter at any Chevrolet dealer and installed on your car by a previous owner.

Guys, please do not highjack another members thread.
If you have a question about your own car, especially yours, david that has absolutely nothing to do with the topic of this thread, please start your own thread. Thanks.
