I saw this headlight modification in the latest edition of Vette magazine, March 2012. They accredit John Drahos of Corvette Conspiracy for the work on this Corvette and Ed Roethel for the headlights. Since I am in the process of restro-rodding my 1977 Corvette and I always liked the look of Eckler's pop up square headlights from years ago. I contacted John Drahos of Corvette Conspiracy to see if they are willing to sell that upgrade as a kit and the cost? I am not sure that I would be interested in the electrical powered versions since I have just rebuilt the vacuum setup. But, if that is the only way they would sell it I would still be interested.

That was a one-off conversion that we did on that '69. Our reason was total air flow through the grill when the lights are down and a smoother more streamlined look with the lights in the up position. We also needed the room for the inner cooler.......if we get enough interest in this conversion we may put together some type of kit.......
Thanks John
Check out http://www.corvetteconspiracy.com/gallery_c3.html Click on the blue '69 on the right, click on that car and bring up a slide show of the build.......... Look at the 8th slidefor a good look at the headlight.
If any of you are interested in this look I would appreciate you dropping John Drahos a e-mail john@corvetteconspiracy.com or call him 216-641-2786.

That's the headlight mod I was asking about about a year ago. They are modified square buckets with Camaro headlights. I like the look because the lights only went up to where the outside cover is level.

First saw this on another forum when being developed, and thought it very .
However, knowing at least a ballpark price is necessary in order for anyone to reasonably gauge the true market potential of any product. Have a number of C2/C3 chassis components I'd like to develop for market myself, but, not to be confused with one-off work, the harsh reality of business is that going from concept to prototype to actual production is commonly a monumental undertaking.
That said, I'd really like to see this particular one happen.

I love the low profile look. Much better than the air brakes we have now. If a kit were produced that would use mostly stock components, and that you could easily convert back in case of the need for originality, I would be all over it.
I am debating something to this effect. Either small projector lights with flip-ups or glassing in the holes and putting something like that in the grills.
I am leaning to the popup solution, so more air-flow can come through the grill, yet use smaller/lighter light solution for weight savings and again, more airflow and room for a inter-cooler if need be.

Putting them in the grills can offer its own problems. In many states headlights in the grill don't meet the height requirements. Looks good but can be a problem to drive at night.

This is what I did and have not had a problem with the inspection here in NY. After adjusting them properly I wish my daily drivers had lights that worked as well as the BiXenons
It nice to see there are different options for our C3s
