Neither do I. Usually it's the guys with lots of talent and/or car experience that get run off by those with less of both. No one has the right to tell others what they can or cannot do, or how their ideas are bad. I hate the threads when a new buyer posts up about their new purchase and pride and joy, just to be bashed by the "purists". Of course it takes thousands of dollars to complete a project, when you can't do it yourself.

Car was bought and reworked for less then $6000 and yes you can do paint for less then a grand my total cost was $482.00 paint and supplys. Unless you know first hand what the OP is capable of doing with his own two hands the only thing we need to do is answer his questions and wish him luck on his car. I am really tired of all the negitive know it all people
telling others what they can and cant do END OF RANT
That "rant" is worth repeating.

As for your old thread....

WOW! A bunch of ******** negative posts and one cool car created.
Proof that talent is worth more than money.

Nice job! I love the two tone.

I've been on this forum for 10 years and i haven't seen purists bashing anyone. If you guys consider recommendations that don't agree with your philosophy to be "bashing", you need to get over it. The purists continuously advise that changing out the original drivetrain will reduce the value of any Corvette. Whether that is always true or not is debatable but when they offer that to someone, it is not bashing. In my case, my engine is not matching numbers but I've never been criticized for that and always get well intentioned responses to my questions. The purists just don't get involved, and that is fine. I don't jump into NCRS discussions either.

The '77 we're working on is far from a numbers type car and I've never gotten any flack from a member here. Just support and some excellent advice and help. As BKbroiler said, the purists don't really post up on the non-NCRS type cars, which I understand - it's not their type of car and I respect that. Maybe someday I'll be able to afford a numbers car - would be

There is NO WAY I'd be anywhere near where I am with this project without the advice of members here. I'm amazed everyday at the knowledge on these forums.

I think its also worth mentioning that if one comes here expecting the culture to be the same as it was back on IH Community, FerarriChat, or LSTech etc. you'll be disappointed. Case in point, this thread. Each forum has its own culture. Your post is like a Corvette Forum member going to IH Community and making the "observation" that most seem to be doing things on the cheap and not enough advice is being given on how to do things the factory correct way.

Hopefully you'll have learned something about forums in general from the generous feedback here on your thread. No one is throwing the book at you; like the old guy on the radio used to say "and now you have the rest of the story".

My experience so far that I have learned in a little over a year and a half is = On my vette (77) there are lot's of parts out there, BUT ONLY a select few that actually fit and work correctly. When one of the forum members mentions a certain place to purchase a part. It's usually because they went down that road and came to the conclusion that on that certain piece. It's better to buy then to jerry rig/moke up/ or make fit. There are plenty of us DIY guys here. If ya need help, there here for ya.! Welcome aboard....

It sounds like you are going to get a lot of enjoyment out of owning a Corvette and that's kind of the bottom line.
