Default CL Ads???

I guess I did not understand the rule

MEMBERS ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO LIST CARS AND PARTS THAT THEY PERSONALLY OWN.

>>>>> Listing cars and parts for family or friend will not be allowed without prior approval by an administrator.

>>>>> These vehicles listed must be titled in the member's name prior to listing here on the forum.
I personally thought that this rule only applied to the For Sale Section of the forum... am I alone in this?

I feel like when we come across CL ads we post them all the time...sometimes to make fun of the 1983 for sale...sometimes to make fun of the crazy mods made to the car.

So I can't post a thread saying "Came across this CL ad, thought someone might be interested" ...but I can say "hey guys what do you think about this car"...or "Is this a good price"?

No matter how I state it I am posting an ad for a Car that is for sale that is not mine...the end result is the same...people are going to look at the Ad. And either way it is obvious that I am not trying to sell the car...which is the reason why I would not post it in the for sale section.

Just trying to get some clarity on the Rule...and if the Loophole is that I must be trying to start some sort of convo about the car whether it be making fun of it, wanting to know everyones opinion on the car, or wondering about if it's a good deal...then so be it.

Just want to make sure I am adhering to the rules

Tact, chime in if you can

This is also from the rules
We have always allowed eBay links when they were used to point people toward an interesting or amusing sale.

So we can post Ebay links...but not CL links? I thought the link I posting was interesting??? Doesn't make any sense...still waiting on a Mod to Chime in Here

Send a PM to a mod or administrator - no reason for posts, these are well known issues for forum members.

Handle it privately-

I would have thought it would have fallen into this category...It would have been interesting and or amusing to me.
Not like you were pushing an AD for somebody. PM me the link please.

I know...I thought the price was insane. Figured that someone on here would be "INTEREST"ed in it to some degree, whether to talk about it...or to check it out. If it's not rusted through thats a great deal

I think you're missing the spirit of the rule and reading it too literally. I read it to say "If I want to sell my car by posting it for sale in the (for me) C3 Cars For Sale, I must be the titled owner." I would also interpret that post your car for sale on CL or Ebay then posting a link to it is ok too, but posting a link to your cousin's car to help him sell it would not be ok.

Given this, posting a link to a car for sale page (where the car is owned by someone you don't know) for the purpose of pointing out something other than that it's for sale in the general or tech sections is also OK

I posted in the General Section, a link to this...

"1972 Corvette 350 200hp 1-owner car with 68000 miles and the title is still in the original owners name. The car is a survivor with original paint with all bonding strips showing and is a no hit car. Finding cars like this of any type is rare especially a Vette with these options.......Automatic, AC, Tilt-Telescopic, Power Steering, Brakes, Windows, Pop-out back glass and rare Leather interior. Everything on the car works all interior lights, AC, Wiper cowl and lights. The car runs and drives great and is in good mechanical shape. The paint on the car is aged and cracked and will need to be painted if want to make a show car out of it. The interior is nice to be original and still has the case for the back glass still in place. I have the title, origianl owners manual and protectoplate as well. Please call with any questions or if you need photos this car will not last long"

Asking for 11,500. The pics of the car look decent enough. When I saw this I thought WoW...the CF guys might want to see this! So I posted it in the general section for everyone to see...

Dose...

It must be killing you not to own a C3. Constantly on the Forum. Constantly looking at Craigslist. I hope you can buy another soon.

I see links to Craigslist ads all the time. Why not PM the mod who deleted your thread and ask why?

I did... and the answer I received made no sense. Well actually It did make sense...but by his reasoning every thread with a CL ad should be removed.

And as the previous poster said, pretty much everyone here know the way to ask is to contact a mod with a PM, rather than start a thread over it. This subject has been addressed at length.
