I saw my body mount bushings disintegrate as I removed them. Aftermarket shops sell polyurethane bushings and stainless steel shims for this very reason. History will not repeat itself on my resto.
The car is 99% numbers correct but I'm probably not going to have it judged. So, I think using the best product would be advised. Sounds like poly is the best?
If you are use to metal bushings than the Poly will work fine.
If you want what GM went to then get any aftermarket rubber based kit from 1 of many vendors on the left.
I will install the rubber ones in my 73 as the Poly/Metal makes it a little rough IMO.
I just changed the mounts in my 69 from the aluminum pucks to the rubber. Worked fine but did raise the body about an inch over where it sat previously. I believe there was on old Corvette Fever mag article on the replacement. Actually I just googled C3 body mount replacement and came up with a bunch of articles and "How to's."
Did you notice a better ride Hooah? Who recommended replacing the metal with rubber? I'm trying to decide if I should even bother or just wait until someday I take the body off.
I replaced the dried out bushings on the '79 my wife used to have. After struggling with getting all the rusted bolts out, I lifted one side of the body at a time, using 3 floor jacks and several pieces of 4x4 wood.

I have read somewhere in the past that going to rubber mounts did raise the body slightly and also that later frames had slightly lower body mounts to compensate for this.

Going from metal to rubber is a personal decision. It will raise it a little and give it a little softer feel.
I would not run metal myself. If you want the firm type OEM feel of metal then get Poly. Very firm but still has a little give.

The car hasn't hit the road yet. Just did the body drop this past summer. I did it because of the discussions on the softer rides as well as having a little bit of forgiveness for loosing my shim count pictures (computer crash)
