Default '77 Headlight Issue

I've seen a few posts on here about this subject but none that are this problem directly.

LONG story short - our '77 had a handy dandy toggle switch on the console which turned all of the outside lights off - I mean ALL of them

I have eliminated it and am getting the lights in the car working properly. I put in a new head light switch and I now have tail lights, blinkers (front and rear) dash lights(!) which is cool because there were none at all, park lights, in dash blinker indicators etc. Need some bulbs, but that's minor.

Before I started my work, all four headlights came on when you pulled the switch to the park light position. This problem has been fixed.

The headlights now work correctly on low beam - when I click to high beam they all go off. My thought is that the switch mounted on the lower column is the problem? Everything else seems to be working now.

I'm getting soooo close to having the lights working correctly

Thanks in advance for any advice,
Adam

I should add this - I know the high beam "switch" is in the column on this, but I am talking about the switch(?) that the rod connects to at the base of the column. IF the problem is in the column, then we'll only have low beams for now. More important items for the project $$ right now.

Hope that makes more sense?

Thank you for posting that link PapaJ. Those pages are easy to follow and are written well - good info!

I'll turn them into a .PDF file
