My '69 has some new electrical issues that happened today. I've had trouble with my turn signals not working from time to time but figured it was a worn turn indicator switch. Today I turned on the headlights...which worked fine...and then they went out for a few minutes. They then came back on. Any ideas as to whether the turn signal and headlight issues are related? Suggestions on how to begin troubleshooting this? Thanks!
If there are no other symptoms i might start right at the light bulbs and work back from there...if you have other general issues i would start at the battery and work out.
Without any other problems, you can look at each individually, starting at the connector to the bulb, disconnect them, look for corrosion, check the voltage, and work backward.
Welcome to Corvette .... Gnd xell !
you need to find Identifiy/verify all the gnd. connections on that 69 car.
start with battery and engine connections, then find the birdcage gnd(very weak link).
and finally all the interior gnd points. Don't just look at them, remove/clean.
Replace any questionable cables/connectors.
this should keep you busy a couple days.
i also agree on the ground being a potential cause. in addition, the bulb sockets and the wire fitment in them could also be the cause of the problem. as some already said, start with the bulbs and their sockets and work your way back. the light switch is also kind of unique and unusual and could also be causing you problems.
