Default 1975 Fuel Line ?'s

Hello all, I am new to the forum and have kinda a complex question (questions). We have a 1975 vette and we are putting on Hooker headers w.side exhaust and have decide to change the fuel lines. So the questions are.. 1. Are the right and left side vapor returns necessary to the gas tank? 2. If you install a new engine and or fuel pump are they still necessary? 3. What if you install an electric fuel pump? 4. Do you need to install a different gas cap? Guess we are wondering if these can just be capped off since we have removed the converter and are putting side exhaust. This is registered as an antique so no worries about inspections. Also anyone else have trouble installing Hooker headers (touching the frame of the car, just curious)? We are on our second pair of Hookers and are hoping for the best with this next pair. UGH.. Hope this makes sense, again I am new to this and really want to get this car set for spring. Thank you!! Oh and if I sound like I have no clue as to what I am talking about, well you all are correct I am trying to get the answers for my husband.

...there are no "left" or "right" vapor return lines on a '75 Corvette. The line on the tank from the driver's side was a vapor line to the carbon canister(round black cylinder below windshield washer bottle)that collected fuel vapors and took them to the carb. On the right side, you'll have two lines, the larger a "supply" line to the carb, the second smaller line a fuel return to the tank. Most, if not all Q-Jet equipped Corvettes used the return line system. The LT-1 and bigblock equipped Corvettes with Holley carbs did not use a return line system.

...you can do away with the left side carbon canister line, but you need to let the tank "breathe". I did this on the '75 I used to own and just drilled a small 1/16th hole on the inside of the gas cap through the plastic, but not through the metal and it will let the tank "vent".

Please make sure to carefully inspect the flexible fuel line from the right side frame to the fuel pump. Getting a new one would be the best since it's easy to get to with the exhaust out of the way. Make sure you get new lines that are rated for fuel.
