Cold air induction on a 82?

Ok I'm trying to figure out why my flapper door is not opening?? I know it works because if you jumper the ADAL plug the door opens but under full throttle it does not. I looked in the AIM manual and it shows a relay mounted right next to the Map sensor but on my car it's not there nor the plug from the harness.. So could it be mounted somewhere else? I have looked and don't see one. I would really like to know where it gets it's signal to open it like maybe the TPS sensor?? I know on the 80-81 Z28s there was a switch under the gas pedal and as it made contact with it it opened the scoop but the Vette isn't that way??

my relay is on the fire wall next to the map sensor.most take off the flapper and let in cold air all the time .

Well I looked again and there is a relay next to the map but it's on the passenger side. The AIM shows it on the drivers side. Is it that??
