My advice is to get one with 4 wheels, like the one TWINRAY suggests. The 3 wheel ones are a little tippy.

You gotta love harbor freight it sucks to know that it is cheap Chinese labor that supplies their shelves but still a shop press for $99.00 an a engine stand for $60 that's is pretty awesome

Harbor freight stand, 4 casters. I paid $48 for it on sale. Very stable, only complaint is that it does not rotate real easily. Could have greased it up, that would have helped. But thats ok it wont be in use much longer as my engine is ready. I had the original 200 hp 350 built into something a little stronger. Bored and stroked, forged rotating assy, full roller hyd cam. Should be putting out near 435 hp.
I also got my 2 ton engine hoist from HF. Super deal with a coupon and something like only $15 to ship it. Other places wanted $100 more than HF for the hoist and wanted $100 bucks just to ship it

Harbor Freight is tough to beat for the hobbyist. I have a bunch of their stuff and have generally had good luck with it. Thanks for the help, I was trying to figure if I needed HF 500# or the 1000# and this info helps.

My brother is a motorcycle mechanic, he buys quality tools because they get a lot of use, for guys like us, El Cheapo tools will usually do just fine, because we don't use them that much.

Yes harbor freight has a lot of cheaply made Chinese stuff. But for items like the shop lift or the engine stand, jack stands etc you are not going to find them much cheaper and are perfectly suitable for anything I'm going to do in my garage. I turn wrenches on aircraft for a living, and nothing in my work box came from HF. Even my home box has nothing lower grade than craftsmen wrenches or sockets. Although, I confess I do have bushing drivers, heat gun, bearing pullers, stuff rarely used but needed in auto repair that did come from HF. You would pay 3 or 4 times the price for items like those off the snap on truck. Some items you just have to suck it up and buy quality.
