I can't help with the color choice, but I can add this to the thread.
Whatever color you choose, have a look at the industrial colors, the ones they use on transport trucks. A friend of mine who paints cars says the colors on those rigs are the deepest he has ever seen. He painted his 86 mustang a deep industrial maroon colour and it was incredible.
Unfortunately, his wife rolled the car into a field 2 years later. Way too much power for her.

One of my all-time favorite colors, can't believe the GM used it for one year only, even if it was an anniversary. This color really pops in the sunlight and I always wondered what it looks like on a C3.

I think the paint term is Tintcoat....I'm thinking of selling my 71 for a very low mileage 03 anniversay edition....one of the things that attracted me when they first came out was the paint color....it looks great on your car.

This is a color on 68 Corvettes code #992 'Corvette Bronze' and a optional special color if you knew it was available on the 1968 Camaros as 'Corvette Bronze' code #00....it was not in the 1968 Camaro color charts.............

Here is my 1972 Corvette that has 49,778 original miles. This is Ontario Orange and is also the original paint. It is not perfect, it is faded, chipped and cracked in places. The good news is that it shines like crazy still. I am including some shots of it in the sun and out of it.

Thanks Steve, I like yours with the plane, Vettes and Aircraft always go well together :-).
Here is another pic, I love the way this color changes shades depending on lighting conditions....
