Default Will it hurt anything

I have been running my 75 with the hooker maxflow inserts in it and I decided to take them out today because I’m planning on trading them for some quieter inserts. I went out driving with the open pipes to see how much louder they would be and WOW is it fun!!!!!!!! I have never gotten so many compliments on the car and every one stopped to watch as I drove by. Will it hurt anything to drive without any inserts in? I did notice that my oil pressure dropped without them in. (Fun thing I found out is that the exhaust drones less without the inserts in)

Ever think about the STS Spiral Inserts? I need to buy entire new tube and insert assemblies and am thinking about the STS units. My understanding is that they're pretty reasonable at idle and part throttle and growl at full throttle.

The think I like about them is that they seem "sharp" and "snappy" instead of dull and muted. Haven't heard them in person, but if you search "Hooker STS" on YouTube, you can see some comparison videos.

And like you, I HATE the drone. My neighbor had a Z06 with a Billy Boat exhaust system on it...talk about DRONE...couldn't hear myself think. I had to keep it in 4th instead of 6th just to carry on a conversation.

To answer your question, I'm not 100% sure, but I think as long as you have the headers and tube assemblies on there, you should be good running the open mufflers. You may want to check your mixture since you probably changed your flow characteristics a bit. If you went really crazy, you could probably go up a jet size or two in your secondaries...

As far as the oil pressure, the only thought I had was whether or not your car is an automatic. If you're running high restriction inserts, your engine is actually working LESS to produce the same amount of forward acceleration, thereby generally decreasing your RPMs to produce the same thrust. Lower RPMs means lower oil pressure. Just a thought. If your car is manual, then I'd go back to being a little confused...

I agree, do a plug check, and see what they look like. I'll go out on a limb and say that if you intend to leave the mufflers out for any length of time, you definitely should "jet-up"....
