Help! '76 mistake.

Well! I found the issue- a wire that was spliced in that I traced from the started was burned to a crisp.
Heres what I did, temporarily, to get the starter functioning: img641.imageshack.us/i/imageqbn.jpg/
Only problem now is that it cranks but will not start. I've flooded the carb a couple times and just need to look in to this.

You more than likely toasted your ignition module in the distributor when you crossed the jumper cables. Hence the no start but cranks well. Spend $25 and put in a module. Good luck.

Got her running, just took a little patience. But... There's a bit of smoke coming out of the carb every time I start it up. Strange. And my power steering is definitely shot. Leaks badly from the hoses and rack and makes a terrible loud sound when you move the wheel. I'll probably make a new post or search first to temporarily switch it to manual steering.

You need to click the Picture icon (yellow box with mountains and sun) and then place the picture URL in the field.
THis will put something like
IMG http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg641...jpg&res=medium /IMG
with the square brackets around IMG in your message.
Click Quote on this message and you will see it.
