My buddy just had them installed on his 62 Impala straight alxe gasser. He loves them. I'll ask what brand they are.

Be careful, you don't want to burn your floor.

Reading through forums for years I have seen threads pop up fairly often about the electric cutouts failing after a year or so of use, causing an exhaust leak. Considering the price of these units I would recommend picking a brand that has good customer service and warranty replacements.

I did a search here, I see QTP was a popular choice in some of the older threads. Expensive, about $400 a pair, plus install. If there is a reliability issue after only a year or so of service.... not much fun to that!!!
I think it is more popular withh the C5 and C6 crowd. Going to do some more research there. thanks

do a search here, there have been several posts and threads on the prospect and reality of eventually not fully sealing.

I had the QTPs on my 02 Sierra and loved them. Had a problem one time with the switch and they replaced it no questions asked. Sounds kinda like crap with a stock cam but a aftermarket with a close LSA will knock your socks off. Totally loved em.

DMH makes a great product and stands by it. I love my dual low-profile setup:

I am toying with the idea of having open side pipes and stock mufflers out the rear with electric cut outs in between.

I've wondered if anyone has done that. It'd be pretty intense.

What about just side pipes with more conservative mufflers, and then cutouts on the collectors? That way you wouldn't have to have 2 full exhaust systems.

I second that. I run a pair on my Z06. They are the best cutout I have ever seen.

i have read the same posts over the years. eventually the electric cut outs fail to seal properly according to these posts. it would seem that it is pretty universal and not restricted to any one type or brand.

That's why I went with DMH instead of QTP. DMH has a full 4-year warranty.

And if one should fail you have block off plates included with them so you can block it off and send the cutout back for repair.
