I am looking for feedback (not something a married man says often) on what color to paint my 69 Corvette convertible/hardtop. The car is going to be a resto-mod.
The following is a 2 part Poll:
Q1: Which Silver do you like?
a. The one on the Left
b. The one on the Right
Q2: What Paint scheme would look best?
a. All Blue
b. All Silver
c. Blue with Baldwin Motion Silver stripe
d. Silver with Blue Bladwin Motion Stripe
Thanks for your input.
btw: Sorry I was not able to credit owners of Great looking Corvettes
Polling us serves no purpose; it's not our car. Poll your wife and see what she likes. You'll be way ahead of the game.
I hear you. My wife and I have norrowed it down to 4 schemes; and we like all the options. Unfortunately, neither of us has a real artistic flare for envisioning the end result. So, we just wanted to get some feed back before we make our final decision.
Just thought I would update those kind enough to participate in my Paint Color Poll.
The Rain Gutter Paint test panels were:
Polled 40% Left Silver: VW 98 Jetta LG9R
Polled 60% Right Silver: Mercedes 2012 Iridium Silver Metallic 775/9755
Polled 14% All Silver
Polled 21% All Blue
Polled 48% Blue w/Silver Stripe
Polled 17% Silver w/Blue Stripe
I have decided to go with primarily Blue and a reduced amount of Silver (left gutter sample) accents on just the Hood (L88) instead of the Baldwin Motion Stripe. I will do an LT1 hood stripe and paint just the flat part of the L88 bulge (see Photo Shopped rendering).
I really liked the Blue & Silver test panels together. However, I feel like I fell in love with a hooker (something I did not want to live with). The blues that I really like have pearl in them (Ford Sonic Blue Pearl painted test gutter shown in photo and Lexus Indigo Ink Pearl). I can not live with the down side of pearl paint (impossible to repair without a major cost).
So, I was left with the following Blue metallics that I liked.
C6 Lemans Blue
2003 Electron Blue
Ford Kona Blue
As you can see, I tend to favor the darker blues. I have choosen 2003 Electron Blue because I believe it is the best all around blue for my personal tastes. The sunny side does not appear to wash out or get Turquiose sun spots; and the dark side still retains it's depth and gloss.
I have already choosen a painter; so I guess the next step is to finish getting the car ready and figure out how I am going to pay for it.
Once again, I apolize for using these pictures of this beautiful Corvette without giving credit to the owner.
btw: Interior and Soft top is Black. I have also thought about doing a Black Vinyl Hard top; but I just don't think it would look right on a sports car.
You may find the pictures in this thread helpfull as the color is close to what your thinking of and there's pictures of the hardtop painted the body color and a black soft top in the up position. You can always photo shop the stripe silver. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3s-...6-6-speed.html
