Default 77 Oil Pan Help

My 77 is in the shop and the mechanic has found a hole in the pan and decided it needs replaced. He has tried a few different pans and couldn't find one that fits correctly, so i ordered one from ecklers that claimed it would fit, and it doesn't fit either. He says that all the oil pans he has tried are for the wrong side. Like my car has the dipstick on the left side and the oil pans are meant for dipsticks on the right. (The left/right might be switched, can't remember which one he said) But my engine is a 350 and the original and believe it is an early 77. What could be the problem? Did they make varying oil pans for 77's?? Advice please!!

Thanks for reading!

A 77 pan should have the dipstick bump on the driver's side. Pans are available for either side.
Cheapest way is to just weld the hole shut. Good welder can make it not noticeable.

My '77 is a numbers matching/original motor (late).

Dipstick on the left (drivers) side.
Can't see it...but it's there, just below the oil fill cap.

Bobby, Nice engine bay, very nice.

My 78 needed a new oil pan as the old one was bent and dented. Replaced with a Moroso 20170, no leaks with a one piece oil pan seal.

Thanks Mike.

I did the clean & paint detail in 2010 with the engine in the car. Took about 2 weeks of nights and weekends.

My back has not gotten over it yet!
