Default Wheel Bearings

Wanting to replace the front wheel bearings on my 1971 SB using Timken Set3 and Set5 bearings. Are these the correct bearings for the 71 and is there anything else I should know, Thanks

Front bearings are rather easy to be honest and compared to the rear it's almost a treat. My best tips of advice are to make sure you do it right and remove the old races. Bubba has been known to take the easy way out and leave the races that are press fit into the hub. Please don't do this. Remove the old race and set the new one in the hub. Grease very thoroughly and when you are tightening the nut do not overdo it. Get it finger tight. Rotate the hub forward a few times then check to make sure the nut is still finger tight. Do this a few times but never tighten it more than finger tight. Then align the nut with the cotter pin hole and insert the pin.

Your Timken distributor can tell you the correct part number for the bearing set.

Sounds like numbering from a restoration parts catalog. 69-82 are the same; no difference between SB and BB.
