Hey guys my 75 vette has a gm replacement engine. I like to decode my block to see what extra information i can get from it. 1M10199WP. I know it was made in Mexico.
are you sure its a GM replacement block. that breaks down to a 1969 GM truck built at Lansing MI on Jan 19, 1969. it was a 350 Truck with 255HP RPO code LS-9 using a T-H 400 trany, with 4-Brl carb that was a 4-WD
The previous owner said it was a Gm Craite Motor that had only about 1k miles on in for what its worth. The valve covers say Gm Craite motor. When i started to decode it the first letter M says its from GM in Mexico. than after that i wasn't sure.
As far as I know, there's no known method of decoding the stamp pads on GM crate motors.
Not sure where the info on it being a '69 truck came from, but the pic shows it being a 'square pad' which didn't appear until the late 70s at the earliest.

I decode it from the info given before the picture. If I am wrong then it wont be the first time
1M is the prefix for the Made in Mexico GM crate engines. 1019 is probably an October 19th assembly date. 9VP has been seen on many crate engines. As mentioned before there's no confirmed knowledge of what that decodes to, other than some speculation that it's the 250HP gross/175HP net version.
