I'm putting a new front end on - PM top surround and fenders. I also have a new replacement ZZ4 motor. When I put my sandwiched radiator assembly in the other day, I had to remove the 4 shims at the bottom of the radiator support (sitting on the frame) in order that the fan blade didn't hit the shroud extension. The 4 shims at each side were 'original" from the original front end clip and 350/300 motor. I guess the new motor now sits fractionally differently than the old. Do I now just center the radiator assembly in so that there is equal distance on the sides between the blade and shrould? Is all else (the inner fenders etc.) then set to go for the new front end fiberglass?
Thanks - I looked in my assembly manual for a measurement of the support to another point but couldn't find any references. I will then just "center" the fan blade, tighten the support and go off from there.
Dimensionally the engines are the same, center the fan in the shroud and attach the inner fenders to the core support. You'll need to add blocking to hold the support in position for the hood. IIRC you should have 43" from the fire wall to the first hood hinge bolt. Then you can start getting the nose lined up, don't forget to install all the bumper brackets and get them adjusted for fit before call the alignment good.
It's an iterative process, and changing one adjustment affects all the others. If you don't have chapter 18 of the Ecklers fiberglass repair book PM me your email address. I have a PDF copy I can send you.

Thanks Jim - I think I have a print out of the Ecklers. I also have the Glasray (sp?) book. Hope to make (some sort of) progress today
