Default Hello Everyone

Hi everyone,
like many, I've lurked around the threads here, and didn't dign up immediately.
Well, some personal info. I am currently stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC with the 82nd (duh). I am the new owner of a 1969 convertible, and as quirky as she is, I already love her. I briefly owned a 72 coupe, as well.
I parked her at the barracks last night for the first time, just to have the Z Bar shear from the block...so I have a feeling Ill be asking a bunch of questions in the near future!
Just wanted to say hello before I begin the barrage of questions.
Glad to finally be a member!

Off and on I had 26 1/2 years at Bragg, down the road from you in SF. Took basic there in '68 and retired from there in '94, with a lot of interesting trips in between. Had my first vette there, too, a '73. Unfortunately, it's been quite a while since I've done any gearheading in that AO, so I don't think I can help point you to anyone around there. I do get back there occasionally. In fact, I'll be there for the SF 60th anniversary convention this June. I hope to have my project ready for the road trip by then. You can see it at my blog link below.

What sheared, the bar itself, the ball stud, or the boss on the block?

Thanks, Guys.
I'm pretty sure the ball stud is what sheared. I'm going to have to inspect a bit more, but there was a post protruding from the end of the bar that swiveled...so I'm pretty sure thats it.
I'm a little limited on how much work I can do on post, so I'm thinking of having her towed; either to the soldier's Auto Skills Center or to the local dealer who has a "Corvette Expert..."
I'd rather do the work myself of course, but I'm somewhat limited here on post away from my tools, and of course, its hard to get her lifted with those glorious side pipes
mffi115, if you haven't been back to bragg in a few years...you'll be shocked. LOTS of work has already been done, and its changing every day.
Lupigiato, I'll get some pics up once I put them on my computer

Actually, I was there last month for a funeral. I've been back every few months to a year or so. Used to go there TDY a lot when I was a DoD civilian for a second career. I remember when Yadkin road ended where the Cross Creek Mall is because it was a tobacco field. Do any skydiving out at Raeford?

Good luck with the repair. If it's the ball stud, you might be able to do a field repair in the parking lot...unless the CSM catches you.
