Best ground location?
Is the battery the "best" place to ground your stereo amp? Or to the frame?

either one is about as good as you can get. personally, i would use the frame. the fewer wires at the battery itself, the better.

I agree srs244 .. I did indeed ground to the frame...it was about the same distance to a good ground source...I'll show some pics of how I grounded.
And where I mounted the fuseable link in the battery storage.
Drilled a hole just big enough for the wire to go thru...this is just behind the back bolt on the back of the drivers seat frame. Siliconed it so its water proof.
Then went underneath...there was a large opening right where I drilled thru the floor board...and a smaller one next to it.. that is the one I used to make my ground.
The main reason I grounded at this point to the "frame" is because I called the manufacture of the KHE-300 and they suggested frame over battery grounding.
But it is a very simple switch now back to battery ground if I have any issues.

If you can wire both the the stereo and the amp to the battery positive and negative posts you'll avoid a potential whine through the speakers caused by a ground loop.

fuse location....had to go thru the "wall" behind the seats, and had to go low enough to be under the storage doors framing...there are some other wires run thru the "wall" as well. May wind up running the ground thru the same hole and to the battery if it isn't grounded good enough to the frame.

One thing to be careful about if possible...
Using a dual post battery the temptation to hook the "car" to one set and the "stereo" to the other set is big.
The potential problem is if you use a disconnect on the "car" If you forget and try to turn the car over or hit he power window button it will try to pull through your stereo and most likely your fuses will all toast (and possibly any fusible links etc.)
Seen it happen more than once (so far not on one of mine )
