I'm looking to order a set of the American Racing Torq Thrust M Anthracite's, wanted to make sure these sizes would fit without any problems first. I'm thinking 17x7's in the front and 18x8's in the back, thought?
I have a set of four brand new 17x8" with 4.5" backspacing that will fit a stock configuration with no issues. The only thing you may want to do put about a 1/4-3/8" spacer on the rears to get a more aggressive look, but that's personal taste.
Wheels include center caps and chrome lugs and are still in the boxes; have never had tires mounted or anything. I bought them and then changed directions on the project.
These will cost you $600 shipped from wheelsforless.com. If you're interested, PM me with a reasonable offer. Shipping would be from zip code 57201 in Watertown, SD.
Is that your car pictured in your profile? If it is why do you want to go backwards and put 7" wide front wheels on?
17s and 18s are fine. Since you want staggered fit and you will not be able to rotate the tires anyway you have lots of choises. I would not go any narrower than the stock 8" width under any circumstances. A side from giving up performance you will loose "curb appeal". Do a search using "17s" and/or "18s" there is hours of reading on this. Get an idea of what you like. Then determine your budget. After you do that update this thread and you will get "help" on what fits your car and your budget. Either that or consider the deal listed in the above post.
Meant to say 17x8's in the front, that was a typo. I think I'm going to just do 17x8's all around now and I found a great deal for 550 with shipping. Ranger offered a great deal but for an extra $50 I just feel more comfortable doing it with an actual dealer.
Factory 15x8" rallies had 4" bs, but a 4.5" bs will also fit. As I said, in the rear, you may want to use a small spacer to bring the wheel out slightly for appearance. Without the spacer, it looks like a '68 with the 7" rally. The fit in the front is actually a bit better with 4.5" bs; no rubbing inside, and you get more clearance to the fender so you can run a wider tire with less chance of cracking the fiberglass if you bottom out the suspension travel.
Take a look at the Torque thrust II or 2.1, They are available in 17"x8" and have 4" backspacing, so you won't have to deal with spacers. I think they may be less expensive, too, not sure.
No, they're about double the price. The TT-M's are a bargain, but with less of a lip, they don't have as much of the hot-rod look that a lot of people want on a C3; gives it a nice resto-mod look, though.
