Looking for suggestions for my vert. Time to upgrade from my old Kenwood Excellon head unit and Polk Momo 6.5s in the rear corners. Decent system but want to plug my iPod into the head unit and 90% of my driving is top down so the sound gets muffled from the rear. Also have an Alpine amp and Alpine speakers in the dash and will keep both. I love listening to music and it must sound good. So what are you all doing and any pics would be appreciated. Since I'm doing the carpet (w. sound and heat insulation) now is a good time to update/upgrade my system.

Kenwood sells new units that have iPod and MP3 capability plus Bluetooth so you can pair your phone to your head unit and access any music on your phone plus added bonus of hands free talking and such. Move those Polk speakers from the back and put them in the kick panels where they belong. I've seen small amps that fit in the passenger side jack compartment if you want more power and more volume for the speakers.
I remember your interior pics Paul and always nice to see again. I have the Alpine amp stored in a compartment. I do have to prop the odor open slightly so it doesn't go into protection mode due to overheating. The Momo's are not the most efficient speaker but have sounded good for the past 10 yrs. I guess that I will have to cut into the kick panels which I didn't want to do with my last install.
Here's an Alpine head unit to go with the amp and speakers you're gonna keep, it's ipod ready and uses the stereo controls to select music from the ipod.....bought it at Crutchfield about a year ago, I like it so far
if those momos are getting muffled with the top down, youre not feeding enough power to them. i have the momo 6x9s and 4x6s in my car, and when theyre cranked up, i cant even sit in the car its so loud.
ive got my speakers in the storage tray doors, in sealed boxes.
*old infinites that sucked ***, but the momos are mounted in the same spot, and look pre tty much the same.
and i have a Kenwood Kiv-700. i dont have an ipod or zune, but theres a huge section of hte manual, and dedicated plugs for the ipod on the back of the HU. i just use an external HD with it instead.
