I have never been in a C4 without the tops on so I really can't say. But my dad is 6'6" and his head touches the roof of the car when he sits in the C3 I have. Mine are stock seats. I cannot attest to others' custom seat setups or different optioned cars.

I'm about 6' 5" most of my height is in my torso, just a 35" length pant...
With seat adjustments as low as I can get them and the seat all the way back against the "wall" I can fit in pretty good...it's the getting in that's a PITA... even getting out isn't too bad.

Sit in one.

...and is there anything I could do to gain a bit more head room?...
The optional factory glass tops offer a little more headroom over the fibrglass tops because they do not have headliner inserts.

you can always run fiberglass t tops w/ no headliner. It may not look that great, but will give you a couple of extra inches of head room.

I have a 78 Pace Car with glass tops, which has pretty much the most headroom of any C3.

It is worse than my 87 coupe was.

My 09 Z06 is better than the 78.

I think my C4 had the most headroom of any vette I've owned.

I'm 6'4" and I fit in my '71 fairly well. However I did take the liner out as previously suggested. If I hit a good bump I almost hit the fiberglass. Look around on here for other articles as some have gained about 1" by modifying their seat rails.

Of course I tend to drive mine with the top off as much as possible!

As much as I'd love to have a manual gearbox that it came with originally, TH400 now, I'm a fair bit worried about left leg clutch travel. I know some have shortened their turn signal. If I get a 5 speed I may switch mine out for the same one used in the Tilt mechanism.

I also have pretty wide shoulders. It's probably more tight in the shoulder area than headroom. Of course it's just fine with the windows down and the arm hanging out the side.

I think at 6'8" you'd have to upholster the floor!

My son is 6'6" and cannot sit up straight in my 79'. I'm 6'1" and I cannot use the visor because it blocks my view, so I can't forget my sunglasses Glass tops would help a bunch and I'm thinking of getting some, it doesn't help that my headliner panels are shot and hang down more than they should...they got to go! I cannot imagine someone 6'8" driving a vette

Thanks for the replays I think I'm gonna put a racing seat in and take the head liner out it doesn't have to win prizes its just gonna be a project I'm thinking about a erod 6.2 backed by a Turbo 350 for the drivetrain

Curious why you'd put a boatload of cash into the motor then skimp on the trans...

Didn't think that a well built Turbo 350 was skimping what would you put in it

Well, I don't see why you'd buy an E-Rod motor (lots of additional expense) and only put a TH350 behind it.

If you're going down that route, a 4L60/65/70E would make more sense, as you can get a transmission controller setup with the E-Rod.

Age 68 here, arthritic suffer for some 25 years or so...

I had a '87 with those side bolsters on the seats and that console that was just flat out toooooo wide, it was getting painful to drive, but height was not a issue....I have a extra vertabre in my lo back so a long torso for a guy who is 6'5"....

and so with my '72 vert, I cut out the rear track mounts and dropped the seat in rear by about 2" cut out the rug/padding in front too....
so the seat has a comfy rake and lowered a good bit now, the pedals and lower firewall were too short for my knees on the wheel, so I cut a wide U shape up to the steering column height, pried it forward, and glassed it into the OEM glass....then bent/cut/welded/modded the pedals to be much closer forward, dropping my knees off the steering wheel, which is a '78+ C3 vette column/wheel dimmer up top where it belongs....

I can get in/out of it really easy, with top up even...another trick is to use the OEM foam with just enough new and remove some springs in the seating, and remove the seat belt cover for more clearance....dropping another 2+ inches down for even more headroom....

I could drive here to California right through without pain, NOW....

LOL! This one took me a few seconds to get, but once I got it, it was worth it, I'm glad I hung in there!
