I would like to replace the exhaust on my 82. PO replaced the mufflers with Flowmasters and hang down, looks stupid. Anyway I really like the looks of the true duals from Corvette Central. You have a option of buying the ceramic coated headers as well but, for 300 + dollars would they flow better than the stock stainless headers?? If I would keep my originals I will grind off the air tubes and fill the holes.
A properly coated set of ceramacoats will last long and keep your underhood temps lower. Will they function any differently than stainless? Id bet that scientific data would marginally favor the ceramic coated header, but I honestly have no idea.
Im guessing your factory headers have a variety of holes for smog equipment and o2 sensors? If so, I wonder what impact this sort of thing has on the pricing of a new set of ceramic headers. Personally I would just cut costs and stick with the stockers.
The Corvette Central exhausts are pretty nice...I have their magnaflow kit on my car. For the money you really cant go wrong.
Al,
The stock stainless steel exhaust manifolds on your Crossfire were some of the best ever made by GM. They amount to factory short tube headers. They fit; they're original; and they're good.

Sounds good, gonna keep em but remove the air tubes.
