Default Bummer

Well I was getting excited and spending WAY too much money on my 79 . To get it ready for the April 28th Solvang run. I only had about $600 left worth of stuff to buy. New tachometer, all new steel brake lines, new rubber lines, new fuel line from carb to pump, new parking brake cable assembly, new trans pan gasket kit, tune up. I still have over a month and three days a week to do the work in no big rush! Then today we find out since the president/CEO of the company got pancreatic cancer allot of our investors got scared or backed out on funding agreements our shop lost 14million for operating costs an it looks like I am being laid off for some time by by vette as soon as it is road worthy it is getting sold won't know for sure for a few weeks but it isnt looking good*

That really sucks. Very sorry to hear this. No way to hang on to the car for a while longer?

That's a real bummer. I feel for you.

I own my own business and, like many others, our lives TANKED starting March 2008. We've been able to limp through by having wonderful clients and good business/financial sense (with a little help from 'the Guy upstairs').

Anyway, I was all primed and ready to purchase a new C6 for Christmas 2007. Someone totaled my wife's Land Rover and I ended up having to use all the money to buy her a new Volvo. The kids were in the car during the accident, so that's what you do...put them in a bank vault. And the Volvo IS a bank vault, I'm telling you.

Looking back, though, I would have been forced to sell my Corvette and probably taken a huge hit in the process. Nobody was looking for a new-ish Corvette in 2009 when I ran out of money.

Things are better now and I found my C3 which I LOOOOOOVE. I love it more than I would love a new C6, I think. It's not as fast and I need to do random bits of work on it (unexpectedly changed the radiator over the past few days), but THAT'S why I got a car.

My point is that EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING, EVERYTHING happens just the way it should. Whatever happens, it will work out. If you have to sell your car, you'll get back on your feet and find the PERFECT car for the PERFECT price on the backside.

I feel really awful to hear your story, but if I were there drinking a beer with you, I'd give you a pat on the back and tell you that "it'll all work out". Promise.

First off, I wish the best for you personally. I had read your posts on the car. I hope there's a way that you can work out keeping it. It's tough not to feel down, don't let it get the best of you bud.

That's the 1% for ya. They don't care about you/us. When life knocks you down, ya just have to get back up and keep swingin', 'cuz your only other alternative is to just lay down and die. I wish you good luck, and if there is any way to keep the car on the back burner while you get back on your feet, I wish you luck with that, too. If it turns out you do have to sell the car, just take it on the chin, and when things get better, (which they will!) get another one. Hang in there, bud!

Keep the shiny side up!

Really sorry to hear about your situation. I lost my job literally right after I bought my car and am still out of work today. I had a boat I sold and now have my house for sale but am keeping my vette. Keithinspace made the points that need to be made about things working out in the end. Hang in there and best of luck.

thanks guys i already sold my boat earlier last year and i loved my boat. i was pissed to see it go i also had a bike that was awesome!! an 06 vulcan mean streak 1600cc fuel injected engine power commander fuel chip vance&hines stage 3 pipes, corbin floor boards, mustang touring seat, throttle lock cruise, ect ect ect. bike was perfect it was orignally orange i got it painted after saving for two years and some 16 yo bitch in a beamer hit me on 605 freeway got out to see if i was alive screamed got in her car and bailed never found her didnt leave any info. my bike had to be put back together in order to sell an my wife terrified of me dying on it or any other bike. said if i sold the bike agreeing to be done with them that i could get this car and now this car too it sucks ***! and i have to watch my junkie crack head neighbor roll around in a lexus and not work b/c apperently ebt cash back at jack in the box can be used to make a car payment!!!!

notice after the crash windshield gone, my painted flamed side covers gone, mustang seat replaced with an uncomfortable knock off, saddle bags gone, drag bars gone, and had to by knock off dual head lights which i liked but still everything i spent money on went for dirt cheap to some guy and i had to start over with this vette i am gonna try to hang onto it and i do have a little bit of savings but the vette will be gone before the savings account goes to rock bottom hoping for the best

So sorry to hear about this, I am lucky in that I am just putting off retirement to fund the restore.

I hope you can find a new source of income, maybe as a restore guy There seems to be quite a few folks here and elsewhere that would really benefit from your advice/experience.

thanks cheri
i am trying to figure something out
my wife is in school to get her NP license she is already and rn and has her bachelores. She should have the masters done this winter and the NP next summer she is not working so the bills all fall on me. I have had ALLOT of toys the past few years but this economy is a real brutal attack on the little guy. Luckily for me i have not had payments on any of my projects. i save till i can afford a broken version of what i want then i repair it the way i want it. so far that has been my saving grace because i have been able to turn a profit on all my lost toys. but this c3 is the last and most precious of the toys to me i do not want to see it go!
for those interest these are some pics of the bikes, trucks, buggys, an boats i have redone since moving here to southern cali i got a few of these from a connection i no longer have to the police auction the truck only cost me $600 and i sold it for $2k an the same with the boat an buggy bought broken for near nothing and when i had to have money sold for a profit

the green one is the one my wife crashed 2 years ago the blue one is my old one i sold it to buy the mean streak that got me my corvette

me riding in paris!!

6" sky jacker lift 2" body lift 35X12.50X15s! an f250 brush gaurd

new tires

my tool box is taller than i am i dont have any pictures of my other two i sold them when i started working at this job b/c the company supplies the tools
