Default wiring

my interior was half way taken apart and I don,t know where half of the plugs go. can someone help me out with pictures of the wiring harness and where the plugs go. A few of the plugs are melted and i am not good with wiring and help would be appreciated. I just ordered a new dash and i would like to do this before the dash goes in. thanks alot.

Um what year is your car? There will be several plugs what area specifically are you concerned with. The speedo/tach area, the center gauge area, ect I suggest an Iam that will be your quickest way to track down what color wire goes where an what it operates. A new in dash harness is about $700 for everything interior but at this point it sounds like a necessary move. Burned wires mean catostruphic failure later don't put yourself at risk of a fire change the entire harness. Jmo good luck

Doc Rebuild sells a very good color wiring diagram that shows all the connectors and where the go. Well worth the few bucks.

I spent hours repairing and replacing broken and badly spliced wires. It looked like a spaghetti explosion.
See this link to get a wiring diagram:http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c3-g...or-anyone.html

It is not that hard to see which color wire goes where if you trace the lines carefully. BE sure to correct or replace any melted, broken, or damaged wiring, connectors, or bulb sockets. If you are not comfortable doing this I suggest you find someone to help. If not done correctly, a short could cause a fire.

There is another post on here somewhere that shows how the center inst cluster was wired through one connector. I did something similar by using 9 pin MOLEX connectors on the speedo, tach, and engine inst cluster for bulbs and grounds. It made reinstallation a breeze.

As said if you see burnt connectors you need to find out why first. Junk in = Junk out.

The assembly instruction manual (AIM) has several diagrams of how the dash harness routes and where everything plugs up.

buy the doc rebuild sheets for your car, its worth the money, and you can abuse the crap out of them, plus you could always keep a back up of them if you scan them.
