Default First time to use clay bar!

I had never used a clay bar system on my car...had a little oxidation on the t-tops. Let me just say WOW! riding in my first parade tomorrow and she is sooooooooo pretty! I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow!

Zaino clay bar? Was it a PITA to do? Sounds like the result was good regardless.

I have done this on my 77 ... It is a little work. but very well worth it..

Jus remember if you drop it on the ground you have to toss it in the trash so make sure to have a nice firm grim on it...

I used the mothers clay bar..was like 20.00 for 2 bars and a finish spray..Man my car came out awesome.....

I think ALL the clay bars are pretty much the same regardless of brand - but don't over use it and for sure pitch it if it drops on the ground.

Always finish with a good layer of wax . . .

Clay bars are simply amazing, I use them on all of my cars. I bought a 2001 Eldorado a few years back and boy was the finish "dirty" & "grimy". The clay bar brought back the shine and finish was as smooth as a baby's butt! I would recommend using a clay bar everytime!

If you can wash a car, you can clay bar a car.

I use car wash soap in water as my surface lubricant.

It's only one step in a lot of steps to get the best finish out of your car.

and yes, any clay that's designed for this purpose SHOULD do the trick, not just Zaino.

Default Clay Bar photos

I used Mother's Clay Bar...it was super easy just follow the directions on the box. It's smooth as silk!

Nice car. Bet it was the hit of the parade

Now you need to wash the car and then put down a coat of wax. A clay bar removes contaminants from the paint and does not make it shiny. The lubricant you used with the MF cloth made it shine, like a detail spray. Unfortunately the clay can remove wax therefore there are parts of the car that need protection so lay some down. It's mentioned at 3.24 in the video.

Some will clay bar right before they are ready to put down another coat of wax. You know how smooth it feels now, so you will be able to tell if it needs it again. I might clay twice a year.
Did I say beautiful looking car .

Default Thanks!

Thanks OldSarge and Karol...I did forget to mention that I followed with a wax coat. I noticed that some people do a coat of polish first after the clay bar then wax. It made such a difference though because I had just waxed it 2 months ago when I first bought it...using the clay bar first helps the wax go on so much easier!

@Karol yes she was a big hit at the parade, plus had two guys pull up to the stoplight and ask me if it was for sale. Lots of really nice comments, and it was my first parade it was alot of fun. That is what I bought it for to enjoy it :-)

I use the Meguiars claybar kit from walmart. Its cheap, comes with two bars, and quick detail spray for lubrication (which also makes the car look great).

Will the clay bar work on the darker (lower) section od a Silver Anniversary. I am not sure if it is paint or a decal of some sort?
