Thank you to the Corvette Forum Search Function. I am working on my 72 and restoring the wiper cowl area. After taking out the vacuum lines and replacing the wiper motor I could not get the cowl to open, or the wipers to work. AND.....my left headlight would not go down.
Thinking these are all related to the vacuum supply I used the search function and found out that I really did have two separate issues.
1. After I installed the wiper motor I connected the wiper mechanism off by 180 degrees. Since I took out my wiper arms to repaint them, I had no reference. Once I found the problem I re installed the wiper arms, and saw that they pushed down on the vacuum actuator. This fixed the problem.
2. The left headlight would not go down. I did another search and found a vacuum wiring diagram for the solenoids or actuators. I traced the lines and found that one of the vac. hoses came off.
SUCCESS. Everything is back to normal and working correctly.
