Was Drug Running an Original Option?
Any restoration has it surprises, but I never expected what I found today while restoring my 69 Big Block ...
There had been some fiberglass work in the rear, I assumed that the car had a rollbar at one point, the glass was to repair the holes to the attach points, and someone got glass happy with the repair.
It became more puzzling when I saw an irregular hole above the differential ...
Took a closer look, and discovered a secret compartment! There is a false bottom in the rear, with a 4" space below!
I don't think this was added to reduce road noise ... Thankfully it is empty (too bad it was not loaded with cash!)
This has to be one of the strangest resto finds ever ...

They used to put tanks for moonshine in the old cars back in the 30's and 40's, maybe this is the new wave?

I am thinking that it is such a unique "feature" that I will just leave it as is. Will be able to see it by opening the center storage bin.
I am somewhat concerned about getting the carpet to fit with completely different dimensions. Any suggestions?

Burning Brakes
A good friend of mine bought a 350Z Twin Turbo down in Miami at a Dade County auction several years ago.
He felt like he was being followed while driving the car, and then noticed there was a car parked near his house that had never been around before.
Figuring something just migh be up, he pulled the car into the garage one weekend and started poking around.
He called a buddy that was a Broward County Sheriff and asked him what to do. Seems there was a bunch of cocaine still hidden in the car.
It can happen. Especially so back in the 80's S. Florida drug running days.

I used to own a 63 1/2 galaxie w/ 390 police intercepter that had two bullet holes in the back. The car was originally from Tennessee. I always had wild ideas of why. Your find should give you years of good storys.
