Door Post Insulation
I’m replacing the insulation on my 1981 and can’t see how the insulation on the door post attaches. I don’t see any screws or pins. If I look at the new replacement one it looks like there are screws but don’t see it on the current one.
When I take off the inside trim I can see rivets. Did the factory actully install these with rivets? If so then do I have to rivet them back in?
Has anybody been down this path?

The weather stripping is probably held on by something along the line of 3M glue. Not sure if there are any screws hidden in there. I would think at the ends of each weather stripping there would be a screw holding it on but maybe not.

I thought so to till I looked at the replacements. On the back there are holes that should fit some clip or screw.
While I haven't torn off the old ones off, when I peal it back there is no glue and seem to be fastened in another way. The door and t-tops had clips and metal inside the ruber that screws attached but not here.

Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows the installation of the weatherstripping. In addition to weatherstrip cement, there is probably a trim screw in it. The rivets are factory.

I've replaced all the weather stripping on the car except for these. This is the last peices of this project.
With all the other strips there were both screws and 3M glue. But here seems like only rivets.
I'm able to get the reviets off and the old weatherstrips. But don't want to just glue on the new ones. I fugure I need some screws here but not sure how they would connect to the new strips?

The image is from the AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) About the only way to get the rivets out is to drill out the head, peel off the weatherstrip, then drill out the rest of the rivet.
