Just wanted to thank everyone on the forums who have been so nice while I've been restoring my 81 Vette.
I previously owned a '69 Mustang, and I found classic Mustang owners to be a pretty nice group of guys.
Back then, I had a perception that Corvette owners were kind of stuck up.
Little did I know what a friendly and helpful group of guys you are!
I got advice, opinions, parts and some repair work all done by guys I had only met on the forum. Every one was honest and helpful.
You guys are even better than the Mustang guys!
Thanks again, guys!
Here's the previous car. She was nice, but it was time to move on. I actually sold her back to the guy I bought her from!
That sure is a pretty red car. For a non-Corvette, I always liked the lines in that years models. Love the factory spoiler too.
The obvious question is where are the pictures of the '81? Post one or more of them up so we can compare if our advice or suggestions measure up to the Ford contingent.
Mgrad92, I am with you 100%. I have usually owned some kind of sports car but did very little work on them. The good people on this forum not only know the cars, they will also take time to teach anyone who wants to learn. I do things with wrenches now I would never do before because of this forum. If I feel it's still over my head, I at least try to watch and help the mechanic where I can learn. I even recently worked with the painter on my vette. Believe me, It teaches you why it cost what it does to paint a car.
Kind of cool that you sold the car to the same owner. To pry a little, did you sell it for the same price back to him?
Heck no!
I bought the Mustang for $9,000 nine years ago. I figure spent upwards of $9,000 fixing it up. I sold it for $14,600, including a spare transmission. So I didn't make money on the deal, but the lessons I learned really helped me restore the vette, so it was well worth it. Plus I got to enjoy that car for 9 years.
The Vette is even more beautiful than the stang... Both beauties.

(You know how you tell a Michigan Grad? Wait 5 minutes, they'll tell you... You know how to tell a State grad? Wait 30 minutes, they'll show up with your pizza. JK)
The guys on here have been so helpful and they're just awesome.
Nice vette. Ya i also thought vette owners were stuck up before i got into it. I had the image of the pleather jacket wearing type with CORVETTE down the sleeves, acid washed jeans, and a jean shirt. But the C3 guys are an awesome group. Probably because we actually have to work on our cars

I have a mustang as a DD and I like it. if a nice mustang fastback had popped up at the time i was looking for a project i might not have bought the vette. Back decades ago I grew up with both of these cars in HS and I wanted to own each one with the same zeal.
