Ok, I'm not seeming to be making any progress on where to buy this. 5/8" x 18 thread on the speedo side (.104 square male drive) and 7/8" (maybe 13/16") on the trannie side, 66"-67" long. Must be a galzillion of you guys who have done this.
I had an after market autometer speedo in my '81 Camaro and it used the same cable as the factory.
An '81 Camaro aye. There use to be a VDO adapter in the early 2000's but it appears it's not available anymore. I will try and get the specs for the '81 Camaro speedo. Thanks
Dorman 03152
Length: 63.000; End One; 1,600.20; End Two: 7/8-18" Round Nut; Type: 5/8-18" Round Nut $8.89
But it is OOS at Rock Auto. I/m contacting a local e-bay guy selling cable for a 67 cuda that, I think, will fit.

I just re read your post, seems like you have a screw in style on your speedo. The one I had used the stock clip-in GM style. Maybe you got the wrong Speedo.

I didn't think they offered anything but screw in cables (which shouldn't cost more than 20 bucks).
Ok, I had to figure this out myself. Napa has a 38" cable (BK6151602 $16.89) that is a direct replacement for my upper speedo cable 'cept for the fact that it is 5/8" x18 threaded on the speedo end. Just bought it this am from my good Napa dealer who was kind enough to order that and the 63" (if I wanted a one piece replacement) #BK6151604 $19.19 which probably would have also worked if I wanted a one piece total replacement - it was in a sealed plastic wrap and he didn't really want me to open it if I didn't want it (no problem) and would have been my 2nd choice if the shorter one didn't fit. I like the idea of a 2 piece so that if you have to pull the dash out again (shoot me now) you just disconnect it in the middle and push it thru the firewall instead of dealing with the trannie disconnect. Also, I think the idea of a 2 piece cable puts less strain on the cable. These cables also fit a 1970 Chevy truck K10 4wd pickup. I did call a local speedo shop and he was either an @$$**** or thought I was one cause when I told him what I needed he started to hem and haw around saying he didn't know if he had the pieces in his shop to make the cable but if he did it would be about 50 bucks and would take him 3 days. It would be more if he had to order parts. 5/8" x18 on one side and 7/8" on the other is probably the most common of screw caps.
