Class never changed among people who have it and know what it is. A classic rolls Royce is classy. A Bentley is new and expensive but not as classy in my opinion. Same as the vettes a c8 in 15 years will be awesome but it will never be a breath taking 59 or a early c3. I think there will always be a market for these cars. Did you guys see the recent thread " highschool kids dig my c3" or how ever it was titled? As long as we all keep driving these cars every chance we get they will never go out of style. The c4 on the other hand :
I agree. I am 15 and I bought a c3 for my first car. I love these cars!!! All of my friends think its really awesome too. I think that there will always be someone that wants one
My 22 year old, 1st year Law Student, son DOES (along with head-banging metal), but both the twenty-something daughters will be glued to the CMA's tonight!!! Me too!
Great responses. Thanks for all of the input. So here's what I got out of it.
1) My optimum future value as an original will require new paint to get the most value.
2) My Car's specs (200hp TH400, Air, blk interior) is not a BB nor an LT1. That's where the big money goes to all original.
3) The mods I'm considering may or may not effect the value......it's too close to tell. As long as I don't put in **** carpet, seats from a Vega, and put on wheels with spinners, then I'm probably okay.
My first ride in a Corvette was a 70 BB with a 4 spd. I remember it was one awesome car. I was 14 at the time. My C3 doesn't have the performance that one had and I want to add some punch, but I want to be aware of the impact I'm making to the car's value. I said aware, that's all.
I do consider these cars as investments. At least that's what I tell my wife to get her to buy into my hobby. So let's not blow the big seceret. In reality, they are. I'm betting that 15 years from now, my C2 and C3 will both be more valuable than they are today. I don't think a 2008 C6 will be. Classic cars are investments. They just don't always return the money we sink into them, but they rarely depreciate.
Thanks for all of the inputs. I'm going to put some pep into my car and not look back.
