I just bought a C3. 1980 black/black L48 4 speed. New interior, 2 year old paint, everything works. Car looks mint. I bought it on E Bay. Price was $12,790. With shipping and registration it will come out to pretty much what I sold my C5 for. Which works out nice. Pics to follow as soon as I get it.

I hope you went and inspected it. I thought your budget was $5000? Maybe there won't be any surprises when it gets there. Congrats

I was looking to spend $5000 but had money to do work on it. Like paint it the color I wanted and put a new interior the color I wanted. And add a 4 speed. This car came up and it was the colors I wanted and a 4 speed. Then I figured in my labor to do all that work and the time it would take me and a little push from my wife and I bought it.
Smart move on buying it the way you want not building it to what you want.
Congrats!
Did you have a professional check it before purchase? Looks are worthless as awards/trophies when it comes to these cars being bought unseen or if you don't know what to look for

Congrats on your new ride. I would have loved to get a completed '80, but funds were not there.
Being impatient for pictures, I looked up the ebay auction. Very nice! Looks like it even still has all the emissions hardware under the hood. I could use those photos as a guide to what mine should look like! Congrats again!

Thanks, it seemed like a nice car and I bought it at the end. No time to get it inspected. Just a spur of the moment thing. Even if I get it and a couple of things need to be done, it will be a lot better than the expensive crap I have been looking at the last 2 weeks.
Every once in a while you just have to roll the dice. Hope there are no major surprises for you.
And congrats on marying the right woman! She actually gave you the nudge you needed to spend almost three times your budget. She's a keeper!

She puts up with a lot with my car "addiction". I have spent a ton on cars and never heard boo from her. She sure is a keeper. 20 years now.
You can search ebay for auctions completed in the past month - use 'Advanced Search', and 'Show completed listings only' is an optional selection. I already have a Saved Search for 1980-1982 Corvettes, I like to keep an eye on the market. Since you shared the final sale price, there was only one it could be.
